CLV Holds Annual Meeting June 11

Christmas Lake Village will hold its annual meeting June 11, at the Recreation Center at 1 p.m. Every property owner is encouraged to attend.

All property owners have an opportunity to participate in improving CLV. During this year’s annual meeting three new directors will be elected to the Board. Don’t wait until you have a complaint to come to either the annual meeting or the monthly meetings. Be proactive and become a part of the solution.

“It is a point of responsibility for every property owner. We will listen to comments from the floor,” said Board President Don Vogel. “We welcome people to share how they feel things are going.”

In the past both the monthly meetings and the annual meetings have been poorly attended. Let’s take some positive steps forward and show interest in improving the place we call home.

Concerts Rock Holly Park Throughout Summer

Let the music begin! The Holly Park concerts will have you swinging and singing. Don’t miss these FREE, FUN, FAMILY events!

Yee-haws were hollered and heels were kicked up as the concerts in Holly Park kicked off May 25th with the country group Common Ground. Many folks were on hand to toss their hats in the air and enjoy the setting sun, visiting with new and old friends alike.

Local Tammy Cassidy will serenade villagers on June 22nd. Tammy has a local following, performing at many Legions and Eagles lodges. Tammy sings a variety of music and will be backed up with two other musicians.

On July 27th CLV will rock to the 50’s and 60’s sounds of Sugar and Spice. This group puts on an entertaining performance with the women dressed in poodle skirts and the men in flashy attire as well.

The Troubadours of the Divine Bliss will bring their sounds to CLV August 24th. This duo sings an eclectic mix of music from Cajun zydeco to folk. If you are looking for a little bliss, don’t miss the Troubadours!

The Christmas Lake Village Garden Club will be offering chips, cookies, soda, and water for sale. Every sale the Garden Club makes helps them raise money to beautify CLV.

CLV will be giving away free popsicles to both the young and young at heart! Residents and their guests are encouraged to picnic on the lawn while listening to the sounds.

Join us at Holly Park for this FREE, FUN, FAMILY event. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m.

Onyx proposed to begin residential service within CLV at a quarterly rate of $42.25. They will provide weekly Wednesday pick-up and 95 gallon waste carts for new customers. Onyx will begin service July 1st if they sign up at least 150 new customers.

Lincoln Heritage Public Library

Summer Reading at Lincoln Heritage Public Library

Break out the overalls, work boots and garden tools. Lincoln Heritage Public Library is taking kids “down on the farm” for a summer reading hoedown.
“Farming is a lost art,” said Children’s Librarian Rebecca Rau. “So many kids have never seen a real farm or even know what happens on them.”

“Last year before the finale (of summer reading), I decided on farming,” Rau said. “I talked to some people back in December to get them lined up. Most of the actual planning starts the last week of April.”

The kids will be participating in many exciting activities.

SnakeHead Ed and the Heiken Puppets will educate the children about farming history and animal care.

Branchville Correctional Facility is bringing drug- and tobacco-sniffing dogs along with a bloodhound. One local farmer will be bringing a dairy cow to show the children more about the milking process. Another local farmer will speak on her experiences farming ostriches.

In July there will be a Hoe Down in Dale City Park for all to attend.

Summer reading is open to children age 3 through high school. There will be prizes awarded weekly with grand prizes awarded during the last week. Registration week is June 5th through June 12th. Please call Lincoln Heritage Public Library, 937-7170, with any questions.

Women and Men’s Tennis Leagues Begin

Women and Men’s Tennis Leagues Begin

Interested in losing some of those winter pounds, getting fit, and enjoying the company of other like minded folks? Then dust off your racquet and join a CLV Tennis League.

The women play every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Holly Park tennis courts. Anyone interested in joining this group of women should call Carol Burnette at 544-2077.

In addition to the women’s league this year, there has been some interest in the men starting a league of their own.

“I am hoping to have a men’s league for regular play weekly if there is enough interest,” said organizer Tan Mayhall. “Surely there is some tennis players around that would like to have an opportunity to keep sharp.”

Any men interested in playing tennis on a regular basis this summer should call Tan at 544-3174.
